LEAP and 4-H are partnering to bring you a babysitting club like never before!
This 6 week long course, open to students 5th grade through 8th grade, will touch base on all of the major babysitting topics including safety, child development, taking care of children, healthy snack preparation, how to HAVE FUN with your charges and marketing their babysitting business.
What will I learn?
Session 1: Babysitting 101: This session spends time discussing the characteristics of being a good babysitter and whether youth are ready for the responsibility of taking care of another person.
Session 2: Child Development: This session talks about what to expect at each age giving youth the opportunity to decide which age group they might be interested in working with. It also briefly talks about babysitting children with developmental delays.
Session 3: Caring for Children:This session covers what it means to care for children. This includes bath time, snacks, meal times, bed time, discipline and following the rules set by the parents and more.
Session 4: Entertainment and Nutrition: Discuss clever ideas on how to entertain children that does not involve television, iPads or other electronic devices. Also nutritious and safe snacks that babysitters can provide to the kids they are watching.

If not available the curriculum has a lot of information and activities to discuss with the youth the importance of being smart and safe while babysitting.
