  • Basketball

    Elementary Basketball is open to boys and girls in 2nd - 5th grade. Girls basketball is during the Fall, boys 4th-5th begin in the Winter, and boys 2nd-3rd meet in the Spring. Teams will be formed at each elementary school that have enough participants registered to field a team and where a volunteer coach is available. In the event of low enrollment or lack of a volunteer coach, schools may be combined and/or refunds may be given. In this event, you would be contacted by the LEAP Office.

    Middle School Basketball is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. Boys basketball begins in October, and Girls Basketball begins in January. This 8-week program of educational athletics will focus on skill development, gaining an appreciation for the sport of basketball, and teamwork. Effort, attitude, and commitment will directly influence individual growth within the program. A high level of sportsmanship will be expected of all involved with the program.
  • Cheer

    Throughout the school year and summer the Varsity and Middle School Cheer and Dance coaches offer additional opportunities to improve pom skills with clinics, camps, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Choice Hoops Academy

    Choice Hoops Academy provides additional opportunities for elementary and middle school girls to find success with basketball. The Academy meets on Sundays for 5 weeks at East Middle School. Click the courses to find out more information and/or register for the offering.

    LEAP offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities throughout the school year. From robotics, to art, to drama, check back often as more opportunities are added!
  • Cross Country

    Elementary Cross-Country is open to boys and girls in 3rd through 5th grades starting in September and will run for six weeks. Students will run a one-mile course. Teams will be formed at each elementary school that have enough participants registered to field a team and where a volunteer coach is available. In the event of low enrollment or lack of a volunteer coach, schools may be combined and/or refunds may be given. In this event, you would be contacted by the LEAP Office.
  • Cross Country

    Middle School Cross-Country is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. Cross-Country begins in August, and will run for nine weeks. Students will run a two-mile course.

    Students grades K-5 are welcomed to participate in the many LEAP athletic opportunities available throughout the academic year and summer. It is the vision of LEAP to provide students with increased opportunities for engagement beyond the school day through educational and recreational activities to improve learning, health, and wellness.

    Elementary Flag Football is open to boys and girls in 2nd - 5th grade. The season begins on Monday, September 18th and will run for five weeks. Teams will be formed at each elementary school that have enough participants registered to field a team and where a volunteer coach is available. In the event of low enrollment or lack of a volunteer coach, schools may be combined and/or refunds may be given. In this event, you would be contacted by the LEAP Office.

    Middle School Football is open to students in 7th - 8th grade. The season begins in August and will run for approximately nine weeks. Approximately six games/scrimmages will be held throughout the season.

    Middle School Girls Volleyball is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. The season begins in August and will run for approximately eight weeks. This program of educational athletics will focus on skill development, gaining an appreciation for the sport of volleyball, and teamwork.   • Junior Roller Derby

    Junior Roller Derby is open to students ages 8 - 17. The mission of Junior Roller Derby is to promote athleticism, camaraderie, and positive self-esteem. Roller Derby classes are open to both beginners as well as those who have derby experience. Our young skaters learn the value of teamwork, athleticism and fair play through participation in junior roller derby. Classes will take place at TCAPS Montessori at Glenn Loomis, 1009 Oak St., Traverse City, MI 49684.

    LEAP, in partnership with ATA Martial Arts, offers a 4-week confidence course open to all Pre-K through 7th Grade Students. Classes will be 30 minutes in length and will focus on enhanced confidence, discipline, and respect.

  • Middle School Athletics

    Students grades 6-8 are welcomed to participate in the many LEAP athletic opportunities available throughout the academic year and summer. It is the vision of LEAP to provide students with increased opportunities for engagement beyond the school day through educational and recreational activities to improve learning, health, and wellness. Physicals are required for Middle School students to participate in LEAP sports offerings. Physicals dated April 15th of the prior school year may be turned in to the Main Office at East Middle School or the North Wing Office at West Middle School.   • Odyssey of the Mind

    Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition in which Students develop team-building skills by working in groups. Students develop team-building skills by working in groups. Students learn to examine problems and to identify the real challenge without limiting the possible solutions and their potential success. The creative-thinking process is nurtured and developed as a problem-solving tool. Students of all types will find something that will appeal to them (art, technical skills, drama, engineering, etc)
  • Robotics

    Robotics classes are open to elementary and middle school students. We have a variety of programming from VEX Robotics, Underwater Lego Classes, and other options to keep young minds engaged.
  • Sideline Cheer

    Middle School Sideline Cheer is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. The season coincides with 7th - 8th grade Football will begin in August and run for approximately nine weeks. Modern day cheerleading consists of many skills. Cheerleaders are required to lead the spirit and energy the crowd directs towards the football team. We know by studies that players often perform better when they are given positive attention from the people in the stands who are there to support them. Cheerleaders at the middle school level will be taught age appropriate stunts, flexibility skills such as splits and jumps, and tumbling.
  • Softball

    Middle School Girls Softball is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. The season begins in April and runs for approximately eight weeks. During that time, girls will be coached on the fundamental skills needed for the game including throwing, fielding, hitting, and pitching.
  • Summer Camps

    Summer is a great time to learn something new or improve upon your skills. LEAP offers and features local camp opportunities ranging from Youth Football to Young Americans Music Camps, to Robotics. Opportunities are added as they are made available, so check back often!
  • TC Tritons Rowing Team Club

    The TC Tritons High School Rowing Team Club, a division of Traverse Area Community Rowing and part of TCAPS Learning, Enrichment & Athletic Program (LEAP) is open to students in 9th - 12th grade. The program is located at Boardman Lake and has season in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

    Tennis brings students together in teams to play singles, doubles, and mixed doubles against other teams. Middle school tennis is six weeks in length and will begin in April.
