    About Co-Ed Track & Field

    LEAP middle school Track & Field is co-ed and is open to students in 6-8 grade students of all ability levels and experience. This program of educational athletics will focus on skill development, gaining an appreciation for the sport of track and field, and teamwork. Effort, attitude, and commitment will directly influence individual growth within the program. A high level of sportsmanship will be expected of all involved with the program.

    Season Start & End Dates

    Monday, April  1st, 2024 - Friday May 31, 2024.

    • Boys: Monday-Friday after school until 4:15pm. Girls Team Parent Meeting: Monday April 8 at 4:15pm.

    • Boys & Girls: The season begins Monday April 1 and ends Friday, May 31. Practice will be right after school from 2:45 to 4:15 PM. (4:30 for select field events)

    Order of Events:  Boys will run first in all events for 2024. Boys run first in even years and girls run first in odd years.

    • 4 x 800 meter relay (to be conducted during field events)
    • 55 meter hurdles
    • 100 meter dash
    • 4 x 200 meter relay
    • 1600 meter run
    • 4 x 100 meter relay
    • 400 meter dash
    • 70 meter dash
    • 800 meter run
    • 200 meter hurdles
    • 200 meter dash
    • 3200 meter run
    • 4 x 400 meter relay

    Field Event Order: 

    • Girls long jump and pole vault first (followed by boys)
    • Boys high jump and shot put first (followed by girls)

    All students are guaranteed participation in at least two meets each season, but several meets throughout the season are invitationals, or invite only. Each team is limited to a certain number of entries per event, and those students will be chosen for each meet at the coach’s discretion.

    Important Meet Information

    • Only participants, coaches, and assigned meet volunteers, are allowed on the infield during meets. All others must be behind the fencing and/or in the stands.
    • No pets are allowed at any TCAPS event. Please do not bring your pets to the track meets as this is a school policy and is in place for the safety of everyone.
    • Track meets can be held during all weather conditions, please send your child to meets prepared for all weather conditions. Include shorts, pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket, running shoes, gloves and a water bottle. As the night progresses the weather can dramatically change.

    3 STEP ENROLLMENT PROCESS:

    1) Registration & Payment

    • Visit https://tcaps.ce.eleyo.com/ to register and pay for your student's sport.
    • If you have not yet created an Eleyo account, select “Sign Up” (top, right corner). If your email address is recognized as a previously registered user, please use the “Forgot Password” link to receive an emailed link to create a new password.
    • Once your account is created/updated. Select the correct registration button for your student’s school, grade level & gender to register and pay.

    **IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL & RECEIPT FROM ELEYO - YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED**

      Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, TCAPS Middle School athletes will now participate under the umbrella of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). The middle school teams under the MHSAA must be composed of students enrolled in TCAPS. MHSAA teams include Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country, Wrestling, Softball, and Track & Field and Tennis.

      Deadline: Friday, March 15, 2024

      • TCAPS Students: $140.00
      • Reduced fees are available to TCAPS students who qualify for the free and reduced meals program:
        • Reduced Meals Participation Fee: $70.00 if registered by the deadline
        • Free Meals Participation Fee: $40.00 if registered by the deadline
      • TCAPS shared-time students: $178.00
        • Children’s House Co-Op with TC West

      • Non-shared time students: $199.00
        • Woodland School Co-Op with TC East

      **Reduced Rates are not available for any Non-TCAPS students.**

      Registration deadlines are final. Late registrations may not be accepted after the posted registration close date.
      If late registration is available, there will be a $25.00 late fee added to the cost of registration. 
      Payment is required at the time of registration.
      You may register online using a Credit or Debit Card. Payment with cash or check can be made at the LEAP office located at: Traverse City East Middle School. School Year Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Please call the LEAP office at 231.933.7480 for more information.

      NOTE: If you did not receive an email from Eleyo or see your course in your dashboard, first check to be sure you have not left any course items in your shopping basket.  
      If you did not receive a payment confirmation email directly from Eleyo, the payment did not process and your student is not yet registered. (**check your junk/spam)

    2) Create or update your account in FinalForms. 

      • Register at: https://traversecity-mi.finalforms.com
      • Once your FinalForms account is created, you will receive an email to verify your account.
      • Log into your account and check the box for the sport(s) your child wants to participate in.

    3.) Turn in a sports physical dated after April 15, 2023 for the 2023-24 School Year:

    • Sports physicals must be dated April 15th, 2023 or later, & can be used for the entire '23-'24 school year.
           **Your athlete MAY NOT attend practices/evaluations until this is on file. 
    • Physicals can be uploaded into your FinalForms account, taken to your grade level office or emailed to Bobbi Jo Lawrence.
    • Need a new physical? Download and print the TCAPS physical form here, and then please call your family physician to schedule a physical for your child. Email completed sports physicals to lawrencebo@tcaps.net
