TCAPS Learning, Enrichment & Athletic Program

About: LEAP Wrestling is open to students in K - 5 Grade. This program will include introduction to wrestling rules and technique for all experience levels. Participants will learn from either TC Central High School varsity head coach Donald Funk or TC West Senior High School varsity head coach Berard Priante along with current the high school wrestling staff and current varsity wrestlers. Wrestlers will experience some of the key core values to successfully compete in a largely individual sport including personal responsibility, discipline, strength, balance, coordination, and respect for one another. LEAP Wrestling CENTRAL SIDE: Grades K - 5 Wrestlers will experience some of the key core values to successfully compete in a largely individual sport including personal responsibility, discipline, strength, balance, coordination, and respect for one another. Practice Schedule: The Central League will meet on Mondays & Thursdays from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the New Gymnasium at Central High School (1150 Milliken, Traverse City) with CHS Coach Don Funk Season start: Monday, January 26th, 2026 - Thursday, March 5, 2026. Note: No practice dates TBD End of Season Tournament: Saturday, March 7, 2026 @ TC Central High School 9:00 am. Equipment Needed: Students should wear wrestling shoes or socks. Wrestling shoes are completely optional and absolutely not required. Helpful Information: In the event school is closed, no LEAP activities will be held per TCAPS policy. There is no guarantee of a make-up date in the case of inclement weather. Practices Begin: January 27th, 2026 Snow days equal NO practice! Location: Traverse City West Senior High School, 5376 N. Long Lake Rd., Traverse City, MI 49685 End of Season Tournament: Tournament at TC Central High School March 7, 2026. Exact schedule TBD. TROJAN WRESTLING CLUB (Grades 1- 8) Youth Wrestling Team for building and developing elite level wrestlers through strict wrestling curriculum designed to enhance student-athletes overall athletic ability, coordination, strength and mental toughness. This wrestling group offering is a step up from Beginner wrestling. It provides a longer season with additional opportunities to compete for participants who are looking for more of a challenge! Tri-weekly practice sessions will prepare these athletes for both team and individual competition schedules throughout the season. Open to all 1st - 8th grade students - (experience necessary) - extra workouts will be available as needed. Registration includes MYWAY, NEMWA, and USA wrestling registrations in the Trojan Wrestling Club. Season Start & End Dates: Wednesday, November 5, 2025 - Thursday, March 19, 2026 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 - 7:30 pm @ TC Central High School Wrestling Room. Helpful Information: In the event school is closed, no LEAP activities will be held per TCAPS policy. There is no guarantee of a make-up date in the case of inclement weather. Registration does NOT include entry fees for tournaments throughout the season - registration fees cover instruction during practice times only. Tournaments: Competition schedule will include Saturday and Sunday tournaments as well as weekday duels. Participation is highly encouraged in all team tournaments and duels. The TITAN PIPELINE Club is designed for youth wrestlers with more mat experience to work with other wrestlers at a higher experience level. Wrestling shoes are required.
