About Cross Country

Cross-Country is open to boys and girls in 3rd - 5th grade. Students will run a one-mile course. Teams will be formed at each elementary school that have enough participants registered to field a team and where a volunteer coach is available. In the event of low enrollment or lack of a volunteer coach, schools may be combined and/or refunds may be given. You will be contacted by the LEAP Office in the event of low enrollment for your school.

Season Start Date

September 8, 2025 (Practices may begin anytime the week of 9/8/25. Not all schools will begin on Monday- see additional information below)

Practice will run 1 - 3 days per week after school at each home school. Exact practice days and times will be determined by the availability of the volunteer coach and will not be known until a coach is in place. Schedules vary from school to school. Following the close of registration, your student’s coach will contact you regarding a more detailed schedule.

Meet Schedule

The Central League will compete on Tuesdays at East Middle School/Carlisle Field. The West League will compete on Thursdays at West Middle School.

• Central League Schools Tuesdays at Carlisle Field - 5:30 pm  on  9/16, 9/23, 9/30 & 10/7.
• West League Schools Thursdays at West Middle School - 5:30 pm on 9/17, 9/24, 10/1 & 10/8. 
• All City Championships (East & West Leagues) on TBD.
• In the event school is closed, no LEAP activities will be held per TCAPS policy. There is no guarantee of a makeup date in the case of inclement weather. Missed meets will only be made up if schedules allow.

Helpful Information

• Bring a water bottle to practices and meets. Dress in layers and be prepared to run in the cold and/or rain.
• Pets are not allowed on TCAPS grounds during cross country meets and/or practices. Thank you for understinding!

Participation Fees

• TCAPS Student Participation Fee: $85.00 if registered by the deadline
• Reduced fees are available to TCAPS students who qualify for the free and reduced meals program. Participation fees for those that qualify are as follows:
  • Reduced Meals Participation Fee: $42.50 if registered by the deadline.
  • Free Meals Participation Fee: $25.00 if registered by the deadline.
• TCAPS Shared-time Student Participation Fee: $100.00  (GTACS, TC Christian, Trinity Lutheran)
• Non Shared-time Student Participation Fee: $110.00 (Children's House, Grand Traverse Academy, Greenspire, Homeschool, Old Mission Peninsula School, Pathfinder, Woodland)  
• Reduced Rates are not available for any Non-TCAPS or Shared Time students.
  
  

Registration Deadline & Details

• Deadline: Wednesday, September 3, 2025. 

Registration deadlines are final. Late registrations may not be accepted after the posted registration close date. If late registration is available, there will be a $25.00 late fee added to the cost of registration.

• Payment is required at the time of registration. You may register online using a Discover, MasterCard, Visa, or ACH (via a checking or savings account) please register below. Register for your school below.
• In an effort to be a good community partner, LEAP will accept students from non-participating schools when possible. Space is limited and enrollment may be capped for various offerings. For high demand activities TCAPS students will receive priority
• If your school is not listed, please select the Out of District option.

NOTE: Registration is not complete until your course appears in your dashboard. You will also receive an email from Eleyo confirming your registration. If you need assistance please call the LEAP office (231.933.7480). If you did not receive an email from Eleyo or see your course in your dashboard, the payment did not process and the student is not registered.
