Middle School Track & Field is open to students in 6th - 8th grade. The eight week season begins in April. Students will participate in sprints, relays, high jump, long jump, and shot put.

    About Co-Ed Track & Field LEAP middle school Track & Field is co-ed and is open to students in 6 - 8 grade students of all ability levels and experience. This program of educational athletics will focus on skill development, gaining an appreciation for the sport of track and field, and teamwork. Effort, attitude, and commitment will directly influence individual growth within the program. A high level of sportsmanship will be expected of all involved with the program. Practice will be right after school from 2:45 to 4:15 PM. (Girls run first in odd years and Boys run first in even years.) 4 x 800 meter relay (to be conducted during field events) 55 meter hurdles 100 meter dash 4 x 200 meter relay 1600 meter run 4 x 100 meter relay 400 meter dash 70 meter dash 800 meter run 200 meter hurdles 200 meter dash 3200 meter run 4 x 400 meter relay Field Event Order: Boys long jump and pole vault first (followed by girls) Girls high jump and shot put first (followed by boys) All students are guaranteed participation in at least two meets each season, but several meets throughout the season are invitationals, or invite only. Each team is limited to a certain number of entries per event, and those students will be chosen for each meet at the coach’s discretion. Important Meet Information Only participants, coaches, and assigned meet volunteers, are allowed on the infield during meets. All others must be behind the fencing and/or in the stands. No pets are allowed at any TCAPS event. Please do not bring your pets to the track meets as this is a school policy and is in place for the safety of everyone. Track meets can be held during all weather conditions, please send your child to meets prepared for all weather conditions. Include shorts, pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, jacket, running shoes, gloves and a water bottle. As the night progresses the weather can dramatically change. 3 STEP ENROLLMENT PROCESS: 1) Registration & Payment (Eleyo) Select the correct registration button and register below. Deadline: Friday, March 14, 2025 TCAPS Students: $140.00 Reduced fees are available to TCAPS students who qualify for the free and reduced meals program: Reduced Meals Participation Fee: $70.00 if registered by the deadline Free Meals Participation Fee: $40.00 if registered by the deadline Children’s House MHSAA Co-Op with TC West: $300.00 Woodland School MHSAA Co-Op with TC East: $300.00 **Reduced Rates are not available for any Non-TCAPS students.** Registration deadlines are final. Late registrations may not be accepted after the posted registration close date. If late registration is available, there will be a $25.00 late fee added to the cost of registration. 2) Create or update your account in FinalForms ALL STUDENTS MUST REGISTER FOR A FINAL FORMS ACCOUNT IN ADDITION TO REGISTERING/PAYING Please register at: https://traversecity-mi.finalforms.com and follow the prompts to create your account, create your students, and sign your forms. NOTE: During parent registration, you will need to input your students’ TCAPS email address. 3) Turn in a Sports Physical Sports physicals must be dated April 15th, 2024 or later, & can be used for the entire 2024 - 2025 school year. **Your athlete MAY NOT attend practices/evaluations until this is on file. Physicals can be uploaded into your FinalForms account or emailed to Bobbi Jo Lawrence. Need a new physical? Download and print the TCAPS physical form here and then call your family physician or the TCAPS Student Health Center at (231-642-5291) to schedule a physical for your child.
