PopularBoys Basketball (Grades 2-3)BasketballAbout 2nd & 3rd Grade Boys Basketball Elementary Boys Basketball is open to boys in 2nd - 5th grade (this course offering is for 2nd & 3rd Graders). The season begins on Monday, March 31, 2025 and will run for approximately six weeks. Teams will practice 2-3 days a week and will begin competitions after the second week of practices. Teams will be formed at each elementary school that have enough participants registered to field a team and where a volunteer coach is available. 2nd and 3rd grade teams will be combined and divided equitably as possible. In the event of low enrollment or lack of a volunteer coach, schools may be combined and/or refunds may be given. You will be contacted by the LEAP Office in the event of low enrollment for your school. Season Start & End Dates Monday, March 31st - Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. Practice Schedule Practices will run 1 - 3 days per week after school at each home school that fields enough players for a team. Exact practice days and times will be determined by the availability of the volunteer coach and will not be known until a coach is in place. Schedules vary from school to school. Following the close of registration, your student’s coach will contact you regarding a more detailed schedule. Game Schedule Games will begin the week of April 21st, 2025. Each team will have a 6 game season. Once the number of teams have been determined at each school. Games will be scheduled between 5 pm and 8 pm. Game schedules will be sent by each teams coach. Both the Central and West Leagues will compete on Mondays and Wednesdays. Helpful Information Bring a water bottle to practices and games. Teams will consist of 7 - 12 players. 5 vs 5 play with 9ft baskets on shortened courts. In the event school is closed, no LEAP activities will be held per TCAPS policy. There is no guarantee of a make-up date in the case of inclement weather. Missed games will only be made up if schedules allow. Participation Fee $58.00 for TCAPS students. Reduced fees are available to TCAPS students who qualify for the free and reduced meals program. Participation fees for those that qualify are as follows: Reduced Meals Participation Fee: $29.00 if registered by the deadline. Free Meals Participation Fee: $14.50 if registered by the deadline. $74.00 for TCAPS shared-time students (GTACS, TC Christian, Trinity Lutheran, The Children's House). $83.00 for non-shared time students (Grand Traverse Academy, Greenspire, Homeschool, Old Mission Peninsula School, Pathfinder, Woodland). Reduced Rates are not available for any Non-TCAPS students Registration Deadline & Details Deadline: Friday, March 14th, 2025. Registration deadlines are final. Late registrations may not be accepted after the posted registration close date. If late registrations are available there will be a late fee of $25.00. Register for your school below. If your school is not listed, please select the Out of District Option. In an effort to be a good community partner, LEAP will accept non-TCAPS students when possible. Space is limited and enrollment may be capped for various offerings. For high demand activities TCAPS students will receive priority. NOTE: Payment is required at the time of registration. PopularTennis (Grades 4-5)TennisAbout 4th - 5th Tennis This program is for all 4th and 5th grade students. The players will participate in sessions that are designed to teach the fundamentals of the game. Practice and Matches will be held for both East and West sides of town. Each student should bring a 25” tennis racket to each class. Coaches will be players from the high school varsity teams as well as tennis coaching staff from each high school. (NOTE: A limited number of loaner rackets are available for use if necessary, but please plan to bring your own.)
